Glass Bead Making Classes
Our upcoming classes: Story Poles with Elise Strauss and Intro with Michelle Pearson!
Michelle Pearson will teach Intro to Glass Bead Making September 10 & 17.
In this introduction to glass bead making you will learn the basics of melting rods of glass into beautiful beads with instructor Michelle Pearson. The class will cover safety and glass basics and give you a chance to learn techniques which you'll be able to build on to create your own bead designs. We'll focus on getting the glass on the mandrel into the form of a round bead in the morning and then begin adding design elements - dots, stringer, twisties & frit in the afternoon. Expect to make 6 - 8 beads in the six hour class, 2016, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. All tools and materials are provided. Cost is $190. Bring a lunch.
Elise Strauss will be here this weekend to teach the Story Pole class!
This two day class is focused on vertical design using waves and seals to create a lampworked glass story pole. Elise is an excellent instructor with incredible humor and patience and a good time will be had by all, but some experience is required. You will get to choose your own design with seals and waves as the main components. See details in the linked registration form.
Cost is $300 per person with some additional material fees due at class time. We're trying to keep costs down, but bringing a teacher to Alaska for a two day class is a little price & all the glass for one story pole (a beluga, a seal, a puffin & 2 waves) is included.
Class will be Saturday & Sunday, September 3 & 4, 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided.
